Who Can Apply for MP TET 2026?

The examination covers serving teachers at both primary and secondary levels who have not qualified the eligibility examination required under the applicable provisions.

For the primary level, eligible categories include teachers working in government schools in roles such as Assistant Teacher, Primary Teacher, Assistant Teacher/Assistant Professor as specified in the rulebook, Contract School Teacher Grade 3, Laboratory Assistant, Primary Teacher Science and Assistant Teacher Science, where applicable. Teachers teaching primary classes in non-government schools who have not qualified the eligibility examination can also participate.

For the secondary level, the examination covers serving teachers in government schools, including Teacher, Secondary Teacher and Contract School Teacher Grade 2 categories, along with eligible teachers teaching secondary classes in non-government schools who have not qualified the required TET.

Supreme Court Deadline for TET Qualification

The rulebook refers to the Supreme Court’s orders in Civil Appeals 1385/2025 and 1386/2025. According to the directions reproduced in the rulebook, teachers with less than five years of service remaining may continue until superannuation without qualifying TET, but they cannot be considered eligible for promotion without TET qualification.

For the concerned in-service teachers who have more than five years left before retirement, the TET qualification requirement applies for continuation in service. The later order extended the time available for acquiring the TET qualification to three years, up to August 31, 2028.

MP TET 2026 Exam Fee

The examination fee is ₹1,000 per question paper for applicants of all categories.

An additional portal charge applies depending on the method used to submit the online application:

  • ₹60 portal fee for applications submitted through an MP Online kiosk.
  • ₹20 portal fee for forms submitted by logging in through a Registered Citizen User account.

The examination duration is 2 hours 30 minutes in each shift. Candidates will not be allowed entry after the prescribed reporting time.

Primary Teacher TET 2026 Exam Pattern

The primary teacher eligibility examination will have one question paper carrying 150 marks. The duration will be 2 hours 30 minutes, and every question will carry one mark. There is no negative marking. All questions will be multiple-choice questions with four options.

The syllabus includes child development and pedagogy, language proficiency and pedagogy, mathematics and environmental studies.

Secondary Teacher MP TET 2026 Exam Pattern

The secondary teacher examination will also have 150 marks and a duration of 2 hours 30 minutes. All questions are compulsory and there is no negative marking. The paper is divided into two parts.

Part A carries 30 marks and includes:

  • Language-I: 8 questions
  • Language-II – General English: 5 questions
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Reasoning and Numerical Ability: 7 questions
  • Pedagogy: 10 questions

Part B carries 120 marks. Candidates have to select one subject from the prescribed options. The available subjects are Hindi, English, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mathematics, Science and Social Science, with 120 questions and 120 marks for the selected subject.

The rulebook states that the Part B subject level is equivalent to the graduation level, while the content is based on the prescribed Madhya Pradesh Class 9 and 10 curriculum with a higher level of difficulty and conceptual depth.

Qualifying Marks

The minimum qualifying percentage mentioned in the rulebook is:

  • 50% for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Other Backward Class, Persons with Disabilities and Economically Weaker Section candidates.
  • 60% for other candidates.

Aadhaar and Exam Day Requirements

Candidates should carefully follow the identification and verification requirements before appearing for the examination.

The rulebook states that:

  • Aadhaar registration is mandatory.
  • Candidates must carry an original photo identity document.
  • Accepted photo IDs include Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving Licence and Passport.
  • E-Aadhaar is accepted when verified by UIDAI.
  • Aadhaar card/e-Aadhaar, an Aadhaar photocopy, Aadhaar number or Aadhaar VID details are also required as specified.
  • Multi-level biometric verification will be conducted, and Aadhaar must be unlocked during biometric verification.
  • Candidates arriving after the reporting time will not be allowed to enter the examination centre.

Candidates must also carry a black ball-point pen and the downloaded admit card. Mobile phones, calculators, digital watches, sunglasses, log tables, electronic devices and cheating material are prohibited in the examination.

Important Point About Eligibility

The eligibility checked at the online examination stage is provisional. The rulebook states that documents are not verified by the Board while submitting the application; verification is carried out by the concerned department during the appointment process.

Therefore, candidates should fill in their details carefully and retain their application number for future use.
