Short Information: CBSE Private Exam Form 2027 The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the schedule for the submission of examination forms for Class 10 and Class 12 private candidates appearing for the 2026-27 board exams. The online application window will open on October 8, 2026 (Thursday) for candidates falling under the ‘Essential Repeat’ or ‘Compartment’ categories, as well as for those wishing to improve their performance.
The examinations for these private candidates will be conducted alongside the board’s main examinations during February, March, and April 2027. Candidates must apply exclusively through the “Private Candidate” link available on the official CBSE website. There is no provision for offline applications this year either; forms submitted via any other method will not be accepted.
Personal details of students from the 2026 batch will be auto-generated within the online system. However, students from the 2025 batch or earlier will need to manually enter their roll number, year of passing, and other required details. CBSE has clarified that providing incorrect information will result in the rejection of the form and the forfeiture of the application fee.

CBSE Private Exam Form 2027: Important Dates

The last date for filling the form and paying the fee is the same. CBSE has warned that applications where the fee is not remitted by the deadline will be rejected without any notice.
Who Can Apply for CBSE Class 10, 12 Private Exams 2027?
CBSE has listed four categories of private students who are eligible to appear for the 2027 examinations.
For Class XII (Senior Secondary):
- Candidates of the 2025-26 session declared Essential Repeat in the 2026 result.
- Candidates placed in Compartment in the Board’s Main and Supplementary Examinations 2026 (Second Chance Compartment).
- Candidates declared Fail or Essential Repeat in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
- Passed out candidates of 2025-2026 who wish to improve their performance in one or more subjects.
For Class X (Secondary):
- Candidates declared Essential Repeat in the Class X 2026 result.
- Candidates placed in Compartment in Main and Supplementary Examinations 2026.
- Candidates declared Fail or Essential Repeat between 2021 and 2026.
- Passed out candidates of 2026 who want to improve their performance.
Important Eligibility Conditions : CBSE Private Exam Form 2027
There is a key difference in how Compartment candidates of Class X and XII are treated this year.
- Class XII: A candidate placed in Compartment in one subject may opt to appear in all subjects in which he or she appeared in 2026. Such candidates must select their category as Essential Repeat while applying online.
- Class X: A candidate placed in Compartment in two subjects may opt to appear in 5, 6 or 7 subjects in which he or she appeared in 2026. Here too, the candidate must choose the Essential Repeat category.
- Improvement of Performance: Only students declared PASS in 2026 can apply for improvement, and only in subjects they appeared for in the 2026 examination.
Candidates who had completed a regular course of studies and were allotted a roll number but could not appear for the 2026 exam due to medical reasons (except shortage of attendance) are also eligible under the full subjects category.

The examination fee is the same for Class X and Class XII private candidates.

The practical fee applies only to Class XII candidates. Fees are accepted only through online payment modes — Internet Banking, UPI, Debit Card or Credit Card. Demand Draft, postal order, money order or cheque will not be accepted under any circumstances.

How to Fill the CBSE Private Exam Form 2027
Candidates can follow these steps to complete their application:
- Visit the CBSE website and click on the “व्यक्तिगत परीक्षार्थी” link, or go directly to the private candidate portal.

- Register using a valid and working email ID for OTP verification.

- Fill in the required details. For 2026 candidates, name and parent details will be auto-generated.
- Select the category carefully — Essential Repeat, Compartment or Improvement of Performance.
- Choose the examination city. This choice is final and cannot be changed later.
- Upload a scanned photograph and signature in JPG format, each not exceeding 40 KB.
- Pay the fee online and download a copy of the submitted form for future reference.
Candidates are advised to fill the form themselves. CBSE has stated that no excuse regarding mistakes made by a cyber café will be accepted.
