Vacancy Details and Salary

The recruitment aims to fill 150 vacancies for the post of Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre). The position is classified under Pay Level-6.

Note: 35% horizontal reservation for women and 2% for grandchildren of freedom fighters are applicable as per Bihar government rules.

Eligibility Criteria

1. Educational Qualification

Candidates must have completed Graduation or an equivalent examination from a recognized university by 01 August 2025.

2. Age Limit (as of 01 August 2025)

Age is calculated based on the Matriculation certificate:

• General (Male): 20 to 37 years
• General (Female): 20 to 40 years
• BC/EBC (Male & Female): 20 to 40 years
• SC/ST (Male & Female): 20 to 42 years

The selection process is rigorous and consists of three main stages:

1. Preliminary Examination: A 200-mark objective test (100 questions) lasting 2 hours. It covers English, Hindi, General Knowledge, Reasoning, and Current Affairs. Candidates must score at least 30% to qualify for the Mains.
2. Main Examination: This stage has two papers:
   • Paper I (Objective): 200 marks, 3 hours. Includes General Studies, Mathematics, Reasoning, English, Hindi, and Bihar GK. There is a negative marking of 0.25 for every wrong answer.
   • Paper II (Subjective): 50 marks, 1 hour. Includes Hindi and English essays, precis writing, and translation.
3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Candidates qualifying the Mains will undergo a physical measurement and efficiency test.

Step I: Registration and Fee Payment

• Details Required: Enter your name, nationality, mobile number, email, Bihar domicile status, reservation category, gender, and date of birth.
• Application Fee: All categories of male and female candidates must pay a fee of ₹100.
• Payment Mode: Payments must be made online via Net Banking, Credit/Debit Card, or UPI.
• Registration ID: After successful payment, a Registration ID and Password will be sent to your registered mobile and email.
• Correction Note: If you enter incorrect details during registration and have already paid, you cannot edit them. You must cancel the registration and register again with a new fee payment; the previous fee will not be refunded.

Step II: Filling the Application Form

• Login: Use your Registration ID and Password to log in and complete the second part of the form.
• Information Required: Provide your father’s/husband’s name, mother’s name, permanent and correspondence addresses, and educational qualifications.

Step III. Uploading Photograph and Signature

• Photograph: Upload a recent color photograph (taken within the last two months) with a white background. The file size must be between 15 to 25 KB in .jpg, .jpeg, or .gif format.
• Signature: Upload separate signatures in English and Hindi using black or blue ink on a white background. The file size for each must also be between 15 to 25 KB.

Step IV Submission and Acknowledgement

• Review: Before final submission, use the “Edit Details” button to verify all information. Once the “Confirm” and “Submit” buttons are clicked, no further changes can be made.
• Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation SMS/Email once the process is complete.
• Printout: Print the Acknowledgement form on A4 size paper for future reference. You are not required to send a physical copy of the application to the BPSSC office.
