Eligibility Criteria : MPESB SI Recruitment 2026
Educational Qualification
For Subedar, Sub Inspector (SAF) and Sub Inspector (District Police Force), candidates must have a graduation degree or equivalent from a recognised university.
For Sub Inspector (Arms), a three-year diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised technical university is required.
For Sub Inspector (Photo, Q.D. and Finger Print), candidates must have a graduation degree or equivalent with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry from a university recognised by the government.
Age Limit :MPESB SI Recruitment 2026
The maximum age depends on the candidate’s category and status. The rulebook provides:
- MP unreserved male candidates: 33 years
- MP EWS male candidates: 33 years
- Candidates domiciled in other states: 33 years
- Female candidates of all categories: 38 years
- MP reserved-category male candidates: 38 years
- Eligible government/board/corporation/autonomous institution employees and Nagar Sainik male candidates: 38 years
- Certain eligible inter-caste marriage and Vikram Award categories have additional relaxation as specified in the rulebook.
The applicable age is determined with reference to the last date of application, September 23, 2026. Candidates must possess the required certificates by that date.

For direct recruitment posts, the examination fee is:

An additional MP Online portal fee of ₹60 is applicable when the form is submitted through a kiosk. The portal fee is ₹20 when the form is filled through a registered citizen user login.
Candidates who qualify for the second-stage written examination will have to pay a separate departmental examination/processing fee as prescribed. The rulebook mentions ₹200 for unreserved candidates and ₹100 for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates of Madhya Pradesh for the departmental examination fee.
MPESB SI Recruitment 2026: Selection Process
The selection process is conducted in multiple stages:

Stage 1: Preliminary Examination
The preliminary examination is compulsory for candidates applying for both technical and non-technical posts.
It will carry 100 marks and have a duration of two hours. The syllabus includes:

An important point for applicants is that marks obtained in the preliminary examination will not have relevance in the final selection.
There will be no negative marking in the preliminary examination. Candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage based on the prescribed category-wise merit criteria.
Stage 2: Main Written Examination
The main examination consists of two papers, with each paper carrying 300 marks and a duration of two hours. Both technical and non-technical candidates have to appear in the compulsory main examination.
For the main examination, objective questions will be asked and one-third negative marking will apply for an incorrect answer. No negative marks are awarded for questions left unanswered.

Candidates applying for technical posts also have to appear in a separate technical written examination carrying 300 marks for two hours.

The technical paper contains 100 objective questions and carries one-third negative marking for wrong answers.
Physical Efficiency Test : MPESB SI Recruitment 2026
The Physical Efficiency Test (PPT) is compulsory for candidates reaching this stage. It carries 100 marks:
- 800-metre race – 40 marks
- Long jump – 30 marks
- Shot put – 30 marks
The 800-metre race gets one opportunity, while three opportunities are provided for long jump and shot put.
Candidates need at least 30 marks for non-technical posts and 20 marks for technical posts in the physical efficiency test to remain eligible for the interview, subject to fulfilling document requirements.
The rulebook also provides separate performance tables for men, women, ex-servicemen and technical-post candidates. For example, for the standard non-technical men’s PPT, the shot put uses a 7.26 kg weight, while the women’s standard uses 4 kg.
Interview : MPESB SI Recruitment 2026
Candidates who meet the minimum PPT marks and satisfy document requirements will be called for a 50-mark personality interview conducted by the selection committee.
The final merit list for direct recruitment will be prepared using marks obtained in the main examination, physical efficiency test and interview, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions.
Salary and Service Conditions
The Subedar and Sub Inspector cadres listed in the recruitment carry Level 9 pay: ₹36,200–₹1,14,800. The rulebook further states that, under the applicable government provisions, stipend during the first three years is payable at 70%, 80% and 90% of the minimum pay respectively.
Selected candidates may be posted according to departmental requirements and their preference and merit. The rulebook states that candidates will not be given posting in their home district, and an employee appointed to a unit has to complete at least five years of service there before becoming eligible for transfer to another unit.
