Who Can Apply for LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship 2026?

General Scholarship – After Class 12/Diploma

Students can apply if they:

• Passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in the academic year 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
• Have taken admission in the first year of an eligible course during the 2026-27 academic year.
• Have parents/guardians whose total annual income from all sources does not exceed ₹4,50,000.

Eligible areas include Medicine such as MBBS, BAMS, BHMS and BDS; Engineering such as BE, BTech and BArch; graduation in any discipline; integrated courses; diploma and vocational courses, as well as eligible ITI courses through recognised institutions.

Special Scholarship – After Class 10

Students applying under the Special Scholarship must have:

• Passed Class 10 or equivalent with at least 60% marks or equivalent CGPA in 2023-24, 2024-25 or 2025-26.
• Taken admission in the first year of Intermediate/10+2, vocational or diploma courses during 2026-27.
• Parents/guardians with annual income not exceeding ₹4,50,000.

The scholarship amount depends on the course.

Medical students will receive ₹50,000 annually in two instalments of ₹25,000 each, while engineering students will receive ₹40,000 in two instalments of ₹20,000 each. The ₹20,000 and ₹15,000 scholarships are similarly paid in two instalments.

The scholarship is available for the entire duration of the course, excluding internship or stipendiary periods, provided the student continues to satisfy the renewal conditions.

When Will the Scholarship Be Paid?

For new entrants, the first instalment becomes due on September 1, 2026, while the second instalment becomes due on February 1, 2027. Subsequent instalments follow the same sequence.

The scholarship is transferred to the selected student’s bank account through NEFT. Bank account details, IFSC code and a cancelled cheque bearing the beneficiary’s name are compulsory. The account must be active.

How Many Scholarships Are Available?

The scheme provides 80 General Scholarships and 40 Special Scholarships per LIC Division.

Each of LIC’s 112 Divisional Offices selects:

• 40 boys and 40 girls for the General Scholarship.
• 20 boys and 20 girls for the Special Scholarship.

Gender slots can be interchanged if there is a shortage within a category.

Based on the scheme’s stated limits, this amounts to up to 8,960 General Scholarships and 4,480 Special Scholarships, or 13,440 scholarships in total.

• For Special Scholarship, students must secure at least 50% marks and pass all subjects in the first-year examination.
• Students studying through correspondence, part-time/evening/night classes or open universities are not eligible.
• Self-study courses such as CA, CS and Cost Accountant (ICMAI) are not eligible.
• Students must maintain regular attendance.
• An income certificate from the competent Revenue Authority showing the annual gross income of both parents from all sources, including agricultural income, is required.

Students already receiving scholarships from another Trust or Institution are generally not considered. However, this restriction does not apply to scholarships provided by the Central or State Government.
